About this work
Upper quarter on the staff side painted with a golden climbing lion, with a flaming sword in the right claw, standing on a scroll upon which in golden classical capitals: NON DEEST GENEROSO IN PECTORE VIRTUS (the noble mind lacks no virtue). The remaining three-quarters of the banner consists of sewn flame-like rays, coming from the center: red, white and blue. The reverse side is identical.
