About this work
Musket powder measure for a musket bandolier, fragment consisting of a brass casing and one loop. Leather covering is missing. Standard description of a musket powder measure: brass covered with leather. Equipped with two eyelets on the side to pass a cord through, used to secure the lid and hang the measure on the bandolier. A musketeer's bandolier had twelve powder measures and a bag for bullets. The powder measures contained a carefully measured amount of gunpowder for one shot.
