About this work

Bronze medal. Obverse: bust of a man on a pedestal with an inscription amidst a pile of books, on which stands a burning lamp, snake ring, laurel wreath, flower pot with flowers and printing press within a legend. Reverse: crowned coat of arms flanked by two lions, behind them two crossed fasces; above Fame blowing a trumpet and holding a book, in the background a view of the city of Haarlem amidst a forest within a legend; incuse: inscription.
