About this work
Commemorative medal designed by Johannes Lutma II, struck by Paulus Saackes. This medal was struck to mark the opening of the barge route between Dokkum and Groningen in 1654. Barges sailed three times a day in both directions. Shown here is the town of Dokkum with the barge and the arms of the Frisian town in the foreground.
