Single-sided printed assignat; flat, bounded at top and sides by bands divided into compartments with ornament and inscriptions; in the central field: inscription "République Française. / Assignat / de quatre cents livres. / de la création du 21.9.bre 1792, l'an premier de la République; / hypothequé sur les Domaines Nationaux." above eagle with spread wings and thunderbolts in its claws, holding a snake in its beak in front of a fasces, upon which rests a radiant Phrygian cap; right: signature. Back: signature in brown ink.
