Persian Cossack Brigade ["Les cosaques"], Iran. An army on horseback, viewed from above. This military elite unit was established by Nasir al-Din Shah around 1882 (other sources state 1879) and was inspired by the Caucasian Cossack units that Nasir al-Din Shah visited in Russia in 1878.
