About this work
The garden or the Court of Gethsemane ["means Oil Press"] was the location where Jesus spent a number of hours on the night before his crucifixion according to the New Testament. Where exactly the court was located is unclear, but it is often assumed to have been on the Mount of Olives, outside the walls of Jerusalem, across the Kidron Valley, where the garden is now located.
