About this work

Boat passing through a lock, with the river alongside. The Telemark Canal (Telemarkskanalen) in Norway consists of two canals, of which the Norsjø-Skien canal with locks in Skien and Løveid, built from 1854 to 1861, is the oldest of the two canals. The other canal we see in the photograph is the Bandak-Norsjø canal opened in 1892 = terminus post quem. The photograph is mounted together with RP-F-00-6381-B on one cardboard.
