About this work
The Escorial (also known in Dutch as Escoriaal or Escuriaal) (1563-1584) was the palace of Philip II of Spain. It is a castle, an abbey, and a royal mausoleum in one. The complex is located near the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, about 45 kilometers northwest of Madrid.
