About this work

Photo album with 45 photos and photomechanical prints of the World Exhibition (Exposition Universelle) in Paris, 1900, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, and Dutch East Indies. The compiler came from an unknown, wealthy Dutch family and undertook many travels. The photos and prints are partly self-made and partly bought on the road. Some photos contain handwritten inscriptions on the verso. The album contains 31 photos, of which twelve daylight collodion silver prints, ten albumen prints, five developed gelatin silver prints and four daylight gelatin silver prints. In addition, there are fourteen photomechanical prints, of which eleven photogravures and three photochrome prints. Two photos are loose at the back of the album. The last seventeen sheets of the album are blank.
