About this work
This colonnade belongs to the longest temple corridors in India. It is part of the Hindu Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, in the state of Tamil Nadu. The temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga Shiva temples. According to the Ramayana, Rama bathed here to pray to the god Shiva for the blessing of Ravana, the king of Lanka. The temple is famous for its long corridors, which are the longest in the world.
