About this work
In 1929, ten years after the Bauhaus was founded, photography became an official part of its curriculum. Hannes Meyer, the art school's director at the time, made these two studies of his pupil Lotte Beese. The radical cropping and unusual vantage point characterize them as typical Bauhaus photographs.
