About this work

Interior of a fermentation shed where Chinese contract laborers are sorting tobacco leaves in the sorting room under the supervision of European overseers. Possibly in the fermentation shed Aneta Mineh on the tobacco plantation Helvetia of the Deli Maatschappij on Sumatra (see RP-F-F01149-AA). Part of a travel album with photographs of activities and sights on Sumatra and Java and of the journey to and from the Dutch East Indies.
