About this work

Photo album with 50 leaves with a total of 125 photographs. The album contains mainly city views, street views and landscapes. The journey begins in 1896 in Madeira and continues in South Africa. The album contains photographs of, among others, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Pretoria. In addition to the trip to South Africa, the album contains photographs of France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. It is not clear when these trips took place exactly. The album contains both photographs and photomechanical prints and some photographs are loose in the album. The photographs were made by, among others, Nicholls, C. Evans and George Washington Wilson.
