About this work
Photo album in a grey-green binding. On the front board is a decoration of gold-colored lines. The flyleaves have a geometric plant motif in brown and white. The album contains 24 leaves with 45 photographs, the last two of which form a panorama. All photographs have a caption and a black frame. They concern tin mining in Belinyu, Pangkalpinang, Soengeiliat, Merawang, and Koba on the island of Bangka in the Dutch East Indies. The tin mines there were managed by the state enterprise Banka-tinwinning. The images show the open-pit mines, buildings, machinery, houses, and miners, mostly Chinese contract workers organized in kongsi's.
