About this work

Photography was used in the First World War as a means of propaganda. These photos were probably taken by a military photographer or a photographer in the service of a press agency on the German and Austrian-Hungarian side. To keep the home front informed, photo exhibitions were already being held during the war. The large format suggests that these prints were displayed at such an exhibition.
