About this work

The photograph of Stieglitz's daughter appeared in October 1905 in 'Camera Work'. With this journal, founded in 1903, Stieglitz aimed for recognition of photography as an art form. After 1908, the journal also introduced modern European painting and sculpture in photographic reproductions. Stieglitz also made a series of photographs in the Netherlands, mainly on the coast.
