Railway bridge across the Yamuna river at Prayagraj (Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh, India

This railway bridge connects the banks on either side of the Yamuna, just before the river flows into the Ganges. The bridge was completed in 1865 and, with its 1006 meters (3300 feet), is considered a great achievement of British engineering. Thanks to this bridge, a connection was created between the railway lines of Hooghly near Kolkata on the right bank and Yamuna near Delhi, making ferries obsolete.
