About this work
The mother of Darius, Sisygambis, kneels before the victor Alexander the Great. Alexander extends his hand to help her up, servants and soldiers look on. On the right stand Darius' wife and his two daughters whom Alexander had taken prisoner along with Sisygambis. Scene in a semicircle, in the margin provided with a line of text in Latin.
