About this work
In a landscape sits Procris, killed by Cephalus, surrounded by hunting dogs. Cephalus stands next to her with the spear in hand. To the right on the road, a bent shepherd walks with his sheep. Perhaps this is the old shepherd who had mediated between Cephalus and Procris, after which the couple reconciled. Print from a series of Italian landscapes.
