About this work

The Staalmeesters: the college of steelmasters or wardens of the Amsterdam cloth-dyers' guild, gathered around a table on which lies a Persian carpet. On the table lies the open steelbook. From left to right are portrayed: Jochem de Neve (1629-81), Aernout van der Mye (ca. 1625-81), the servant Frans Hendricksz Bel (1629-1701), Willem van Doeyenburg (ca. 1616-87), Volckert Jansz (1605/10-81), Jacob van Loon (1595-1674). To the left above the fireplace hangs a painting of a burning beacon.
