About this work

In the courtyard of Herod's palace, soldiers kill young boys out of fear of a future 'king of the Jews'. Desperate mothers kneel pleadingly and attack the soldiers. Upper right: fol. 4: 2 parts. Print used in a book by Lambert van den Bos with a total of twenty prints by Arnold Houbraken.
