About this work

Two monks sitting at a table playing draughts. Behind them stands a third monk and a devil dressed in a monk's habit. Next to the table stands Death, also disguised as a monk. He holds a scythe behind his back. The monks are so absorbed in the game that they do not notice the intruders.
