About this work

On either side of a crib sit the parents of Mary, Joachim and Anna, kneeling. Together they hold the child Mary in the air to present her to the temple and fill her with the Holy Spirit which flies above her in the form of a dove. Filled with the Holy Spirit, Mary, from her Immaculate Conception, would be entirely dedicated to the Lord. The dove is flanked on the left and right by God the Father who makes a blessing gesture. Above Joachim and Anna fly angels who hold a scroll for a globe with the text: Nativitas Tua Virgo MAR Gaudium Universo Mundo. In the margin a four-line text in Latin.
