About this work
A man and a woman with two children sit in a poor room only lit by an oil lamp. The children cry and the parents also wipe the tears from their faces. The man holds his empty purse up as a sign that the money is gone. The representation shows, as the verse explains, that the consequence of an extravagant life is 'pannetgen magher'.
