About this work
A spectacle seller with a basket full of spectacles stands in front of the house of an old woman. She leans on the lower door while being handed a pair of glasses. A child with a basket looks on. The seller can probably be interpreted as a deceiver. Copy after a print by Adriaen van Ostade, the scene depicted in reverse.
