About this work

The big fish eat the little fish. A large fish caught on the shore is cut open by a man with a knife, causing many small fish and shells to emerge from the belly and mouth. In the foreground, a rowing boat in which a father points out the spectacle to his son and a fisherman. Below the image, a line in Latin and a line in Dutch.
