About this work

Apostle Thomas is stabbed to death with spears by Indians. Some of the depicted Indians are represented as the original inhabitants of America, with feather headdresses and other attributes. To the right of the scene of his martyrdom he is depicted again, reading a book, holding a spear. Below the representation twice two lines of Latin. This print is part of a series of twelve (or thirteen?) prints of (Christ and?) the apostles, more specifically of the tortures they endured.
