About this work

Business card of Jan Smit, manufacturer of wall hangings. In the foreground Minerva views the wallpaper that is unrolled by three putti before her feet. Behind him the manufacturer shows a hanging to a number of customers. The whole is framed in an architectural border decorated from above with putti, flowers, fruits, peacocks and a monogram. Below an inscription of nine lines.
