Jupiter and Semele

Jupiter, with a lightning bolt in his hand, holds the baby of Semele, the later wine god Bacchus. Semele lies dying on the ground, because she wanted to see Jupiter in his full divinity. This last on advice of Juno, visible behind the cloud in the background, because she was jealous of the adultery of her husband with Semele. Bottom left: g.
