About this work

Cossack bivouac, by a city wall between trees, during their stay in the Netherlands in November 1813. In the center, by two large trees, around a large fire, some Cossacks are seated. A little girl is busy picking up wood chips, while two children warm themselves at the fire. In the background on the right, a Cossack wants to embrace a woman.
