About this work
A woman in a fur-trimmed mantle opens the door for a fishmonger. He removes his hat, carrying a basket of fish under his arm. On her arm she holds a young girl looking at a dog. Behind the man, on the sidewalk, two children play. The print is made after a painting by Jacob Ochtervelt in the Mauritshuis, The Hague.
