About this work
Men and women, including high-ranking persons such as kings and queen, look into the opened graves of historical persons of whom only skeletons remain. All react with horror at the sight of the remains of Alexander the Great, Helena or Solomon. Above a hand with scroll with the text Sic transit gloria mundi, below a scroll with the text Mors ultima linea rerum.
