About this work

On a city square, good and bad judges, good and bad lawyers, and good and bad witnesses face each other with spears at the ready. Good Cause (Bona Causa) tries to run through unharmed to Victory (Victoria), who awaits her in the middle of the square. Extensive caption in Dutch, German, and Latin. This print is part of a series of eight prints on greed, deceit, and litigation.
