About this work
The personification of painting, represented as a nearly naked woman, sits behind an easel and paints the three Graces. Next to her stands a woman with a helmet, possibly Minerva, viewing the painting. On the ground two children amuse themselves with a drawing pencil, a banner and carving a head.
