About this work

Allegorical title print for a pamphlet on the Guelders War, published in 1615. The image is divided into five scenes; in the first four numbered scenes, Peace (Paix) is seen being deceived and threatened by an explosion, a Jesuit with the disguised Peace, Mars, Trèves, and the Spanish King. In the fifth scene, a man designated as Cleve stands before the Dutch Lion in the Dutch Garden.
