About this work

Christ on the cross between the two crucified thieves. Mary Magdalene sits at the foot of the cross, Mary stands beside the cross and John has turned away. A soldier dabs Christ's face with a sponge on a lance. On the left in the foreground the soldiers cast lots for Christ's clothes.
