About this work

Interior with a young woman playing a virginal. The lid of the instrument is painted with a scene of a couple in a landscape, on the lid sits a monkey. Behind the virginal stand a boy and a girl. To the right a view through a doorway to a man standing in the door opening. Hanging from the ceiling is a birdcage. In the lower left margin a coat of arms on a branch with leaves.
