About this work
The third day of Creation: an angel separates the land from the waters of the sea. The land is represented as a naked man holding a root in his hand and wearing a headdress of plants, trees, and flowers. The sea is personified by a woman holding a shell in her hand and with shells in her hair. According to the biblical text in Gen. 1:9-13.
