About this work

Sheet with 32 small representations of occupations or professions at court (music-making, cooking, writing, serving, entertaining), and 16 equally large 'boxes' with 2 empty scrolls. These 48 images and boxes with scrolls are distributed over the plate in 6 rows of 8 as follows. On the left half of the sheet there are two rows of 8 representations of occupations or professions; on the images on the left they are performed by men, on the right by women. In between stands a row of 8 boxes with scrolls. On the right half of the sheet images and boxes with scrolls are distributed in the same way.
