About this work
On a triumphal chariot sits Cupid. His chariot carries Jupiter, the prototype of the adulterer and conqueror. In front of the chariot walk classical poets who wrote about love: Marcellus, Ovid and Tibullus. Next to the chariot follow victims of love: Solomon, Hercules, Pyramus and Thisbe. The procession is on its way to the temple of the love goddess Venus, to the left in the background. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of the series about the Triumphs of Petrarch.
