Rich Children, Poor Parents

The impoverished parents, who have saved for their children, now knock in vain at their door for support. <BR />The old mother makes a pleading gesture. She is dressed in a wide jacket with shoulder wings, while the tails are tied together at the back. The children, standing in front of their magnificent house, are rich and dressed in the latest fashion. The man wears wide breeches and shoes with heels. The woman wears a regent costume: a diadem cap and a fly with cap sleeves, which bounds the stiff forward-bent bodice at the waist on both sides. One of the two maids with a cap carries the baby. Of the two children with a dog in the foreground, the girl clearly wears a petticoat.
