About this work

In a pasture landscape with a large tree on the left, cows and goats graze. In the foreground on the left, two goats; under one of them Jupiter as an infant drinking milk from the udder of Amalthea. On the right, a pig. A group of three peasants stands talking to each other. A swarm of birds in the sky. Below the image, one line in Dutch. Allegory on the socio-economic situation in the Netherlands in 1644. Print from a series of five allegorical landscapes with proverbs.
