About this work
Seascape with the island of Patmos in the foreground. On the island the apostle and evangelist John, together with the eagle, his evangelical symbol. He looks to the sky. In the clouds appears the crowned Mary with the Christ child and the seven-headed beast of the Apocalypse. The print has an ornamental border with flowers and animals. Part of a twenty-four-part series of landscapes with biblical, mythological scenes and hunting scenes.
