About this work

View of a square in Algiers where European and North African spectators look at the skins of flayed inhabitants of Tlemcen, which are stuffed with straw on stakes brought into the city. This would have happened in 1627 after a suppressed uprising of Tlemcenians, led by a marabout. Print numbered in the upper right: fol. 99.
