About this work
The beheading of James Scott, Duke of Monmouth on 15 July 1685 on the scaffold in London. Only after several blows did the executioner succeed in beheading the duke. Monmouth led an unsuccessful rebellion against the Catholic King James II. Print marked in the upper right: fol. 65.
