About this work
In a paradisiacal landscape, naked people enjoy the fruit that generous nature bestows upon them. They dance and flirt. A boy in the foreground blows soap bubbles from a pipe. On the left in the foreground, two putti hold a cartouche with a Latin inscription. In the sky, the god Saturnus watches over this Golden Age. The print refers to the mythologically inspired idea that mankind originally lived in an era of perpetual spring. War or injustice were absent. During the Golden Age, everyone lived in bliss, in a world where one could enjoy the fertile nature without having to work.
