About this work

Christ stands bent under a winepress, with the cross on his back. The blood flows from his crucifixion wounds and is caught in a chalice by angels. God the Father operates the press and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove sits on the cross. Apostles bring baskets of grapes to the press. Around the press three kneeling children and Mary as Mater Dolorosa, with a sword piercing her breast. In the margin a Bible quote from Isaiah 63 in Latin.
