About this work
Moses stands with a snake in his hand on Mount Horeb (his shepherd's staff has turned into a snake). Out of respect for the holy ground he has taken off his sandals and he looks to the sky. His flock of sheep grazes on a slope. The inscription in Latin on a cartouche refers to the vision of the burning bush but this is not actually visible.
