About this work

The chest containing the remains of Gilles van Ledenberg is hung on the gallows outside The Hague, 15 May 1619. Van Ledenberg had committed suicide in the night of 28 to 29 September 1618 and was sentenced to death again in May 1619. Below the image is a description of the events.
